Abstract

Background: Mental patients experience a decrease in some of the brain functions possessed by these mental patients. A decrease in brain function has an impact on the lack of motivation of patients with mental disorders to carry out personal hygiene independently and will ultimately result in low personal hygiene. Therefore the authors conducted nursing care for self-care deficit patients to study and deal with self-care deficit patients with increased motivation in personal hygiene and decoration. Objectives: To get an overview of the nursing process for clients with self-care deficits which includes assessment, analysis, intervention, implementation and evaluation in the work area Community Health Center I of Sempor. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach to 2 participant. Results: After conducting research and therapy strategies for implementing 1 and 2 DPD in two participants for 5 meetings with a period of 15-20 minutes per meeting, there was a decrease in negative symptoms of DPD and an increase in self-care ability: personal hygiene and decoration. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, the authors conclude therapeutic communication becomes the initial bridge for the therapist in conducting therapy to patients, then the implementation of therapy needs the assistance of the family considering that mental patients have decreased independence
