Abstract
Background: Patients with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is a disorder in the lungs that is characterized by alveoli damage, reduced elasticity of the lung tissue and chest wall resulting in decreased strength of respiratory muscle contractions so that the patient experiences shortness of breath. One of the efforts of nonpharmacological measures is complementary therapy with Pursed Lip Breathing. Objectives: This study provides Nursing Care Ineffective Breath Patterns in COPD Patients in the Emergency Installation of Banyumas Regional Hospital. Method: This study uses a descriptive method in the form of case studies using a nursing process approach. Data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. Results: The results of the analysis of the data obtained the problem of nursing ineffective nursing patterns. The interventions were carried out to position the semi fowler to facilitate ventilation, check the auscultation of breath sounds, provide O2 as needed, monitor O2 status and respiration, monitor vital signs, administer pharmacological therapy, provide complementary measures (Pused Lip Breathing). The results of the administration of breathing therapy Pused Lip Breathing proved effective in reducing respiration to the problem of ineffective breathing patterns. The first patient got a RR decrease of 20x / minute and the second patient had a RR decrease of 20x / minute. Recommendation: This case study is for improving the quality of nursing care in COPD patients with the application of Pursed Lip Breathing to reduce the respiratory frequency (RR).
