Abstract
Background: Pressure ulcers or decubitus ulcers are injuries to skin and underlying tissue resulting from prolonged pressure on the skin. Bedsores most often develop on skin that covers bony areas of the body, such as the heels, ankles, hips and tailbone. Pressure ulcers can be prevented by using a tool screening named the Braden scale. Objective: To identify and summaries the assessment of pressure ulcer risk in the intensive care unit. Methods: Google Scholar, Pubmed and Pro Quest database (2018-2020) were searched, and research meeting criteria was included. Data were identified from all included articles, and themes were developed based on these data. Results: the findings in this review that the prevalence of pressure ulcer risk on bedrest patients was in stage 1. The potential factors of patients’ pressure ulcer were sensory perception disorder, activities, immobility, nutrition, moisture and friction. From all articles confirmed that immobility leads to pressure ulcers.
