Abstract
Background: One of the strategies to reduce mortality due to cardiac arrest is the application of the Early Warning Score System (EWSS). Nurses as executors in providing nursing care must conduct assessments in order to assess and determine the risk of deterioration of patients, detect and respond by activating emergency calls. Purpose: Knowing a description of the knowledge of nurses about the Early Warning Score System (EWSS) in the Nursing Room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: Descriptive research with a survey approach to explain the description of nurses' knowledge about the Early Warning Score System (EWSS) in the treatment room. The population that will be taken in this research is 84 nurses from PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. The sample consisted of 30 nurses who were taken by purposive sampling. The instrument or measuring instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The data were analyzed descriptively Results: Most of the nurses in the treatment room were> = 30 years old (93.3%), D3 education (76.7%), and length of work> = 5 years (96.7%). Most of the nurses with knowledge of the Early Warning Score System (EWSS) in the good category were 20 respondents (66.7%). Conclusion: the level of knowledge of nurses in the EWSS assessment is at a good level, because most nurses already know about the EWSS assessment and it is in accordance with the condition of the treatment room and is supported by the facilities and infrastructure of the nursing room Recommendation: This research can be further developed by examining other factors that influence nurses
