Abstract

Background: The incidence of mental disorders is estimated at 20 million worldwide. Hallucinations patients usually cannot say what is being felt and cannot refuse things that are not in accordance with their wishes. Expressive writing therapy can effectively improve self-disclosure abilities. Objective: To determine the effect of expressive writing therapy on the ability of selfdisclosure in hallucinations patients at Siaga Medika Hospital Banyumas Method: This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pre-post test design without control group design. The samples in this study were 34 people and were taken using purposive sampling technique. This research instrument uses a self disclosure questionnaire. The analysis used was a paired T-Test without control group test. Results: From 34 respondents with major nursing problems sensory perception disorder: hallucinations, self-disclosure after being given expressive writing therapy there was an increase from very low (70.5%) to moderate (55.9%) with the results of paired T-Test without test control group .000 (p> 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant effect of expressive writing therapy on the ability of self-disclosure in hallucinatory patients. Recommendation: The next researcher is expected to be able to research about Expressive Writing Therapy to people with mental disorders with other nursing problems and can increase the number of samples.
