Abstract

Background: The problem that often occurs in critical phase patients treated in the ICU is the patient's loss of consciousness. It is estimated that around 13 to 20 million people per year need life support in ICU rooms around the world. Most of the patients treated in the ICU experienced a change of consciousness. Objective: Determining the effect of hypnomurottal on increasing Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) in patients with decreased consciousness in the ICU room Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: Design research design used quasy experiment design with pre-test and posttest research designs. Samples were taken used consecuitive sampling technique with a total of 28 respondents. Univariate and bivariate used the Paired T-test. Results: The results showed that ICU patients before being given hypnomurottal in the experimental group were 7 (50.0%) sopors. After getting hypnomurottal the experimental group experienced the most apathetic awareness of 10 (71.4%). After conducting research and analyzing using paired t-test results obtained in the experimental group 0.001 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a hypnomurottal effect on improvement of consciousness in patients in the ICU. Conclusion: There is a hypnomurottal effect on the increase in Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) in patients with decreased consciousness in the ICU room Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Recommendations: Hospitals and nurses are able to socialize and carry out this therapy to overcome the problem of decreasing the GCS of patients with decreased consciousness.
