Abstract
Background: Breakfast is an eating activity in the morning that must be done to meet the nutritional needs in the body so that it can carry out activities optimally. School-age children and teenagers in Indonesia who don't eat breakfast reach 16.9% -50%, children who only consume drinks 26.1% in the morning and 44.6% consume low-quality breakfast. In this case the role of parents who play an important role, especially the role of mothers is needed to improve breakfast habits Objective: To determine the relationship of parenting parents with the habit of eating breakfast at school children in MI Ma’arif Pengempon Sruweng Kebumen Research Methods: This study uses a correlative descriptive method with cross sectional approach. Sampling using a purposive sampling technique to obtain a sample of 53 respondents. Retrieval of data using questionnaires parenting parents and breakfast habits. Data analysis using Kendal's tau test with 0.00 results Results: The results showed that 35 (66%) of parents applying democratic parenting had good breakfast habits of 31 (88.6%), parents who applied permissive parenting 9 (17%) had less habits 5 ( 55.6%), while 9 (17%) parents who applied permissive parenting had less breakfast habits (6 (66.7%) with Kendal's Tau test result 0.00. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate there is a strong relationship between parenting parents with the habit of eating breakfast at school children in MI Ma'arif Pengempon Sruweng Kebumen Recommendation: For further researchers, they can use family support factors with breakfast habits in school children
