Abstract

Background: One of the strategies to reduce mortality due to cardiac arrest is the application of the Early Warning Score System (EWSS). The EWSS is an early warning system that uses score markers to assess a patient's deterioration and can improve overall disease care management. EWSS is very useful in monitoring or early detection before the patient has a worse condition and is able to use the appropriate referral line or action. Objective: Knowing the implementation of the Early Warning Score System (EWSS) at Permata Medika Kebumen Hospital. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a survey approach. This type of case study uses a nursing care study. The population that has been drawn in this study is 3013 inpatients and an average of 251 inpatients in one month. The sample in this study amounted to 97 inpatients taken by purposive sampling. The instrument in the form of a form was adopted from HIPERCCI (Indonesian Critical Care Nurses Association) (2017). Data were analyzed descriptively. Results: Most of the hospitalized patients experienced digestive system disorders (24.7%). Most of the hospitalized patients did not experience worsening of the condition (80.4%). Conclusion: the application of the Early Warning Score System (EWSS) at Permata Medika Kebumen Hospital resulted in inpatients not experiencing worsening conditions. Recommendation: It is hoped that further research will carry out interventions to increase the knowledge and abilities of nurses in the Early Warning Score System (EWSS).
