Abstract
Background, phlebitis is an inflammatory reaction that occurs in veins that are marked by pain, redness, swelling, heat, in the puncture and hardening along the veins. The incidence of phlebitis in Panti Waluyo Purworejo Hospital in 2018 was 19.26%. The purpose of this study was to determine the cause of the occurrence of phlebitis in patients who were installed intravenous line at Panti Waluyo Hospital Purworejo. The research method, descriptive correlation with quantitative methods to find the relationship between the compliance of officers in the procedure of infusion, location of infusion, length of infusion and type of fluid with phlebitis, cross sectional approach. The research sample of 75 respondents with purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using SPSS program with Chi Square test. The results of the study, there is a relationship between the compliance of officers in the procedure of infusion, location of infusion, length of infusion and type of fluid with phlebitis in Panti Waluyo Purworejo Hospital. In conclusion, the study is the officer compliance variable in the infusion procedure is the most dominant cause of phlebitis with the result of ρ value 0,000 (ρ <0.05) in Panti Waluyo Purworejo Hospital. Recommendation, installation of infusion according to procedure (SPO).
