Abstract
Background: A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. Patients with stroke disease will experience cognitive and psychological changes such as anxiety, depression, self-acceptance, and self-concept. Purpose: To examine the psychological health of stroke patients included anxiety, depression, self-acceptance, and self-concept. Method: This research method used a quantitative descriptive design with a literature review approach. Result: Based on 10 articles regarding the psychological health of stroke patients were anxiety, depression, self-acceptance, and self-concept. Anxiety categories in some articles showed not anxious (0.52%), mild anxiety (36.84%), moderate anxiety (55.26%), and severe anxiety (7.38%). Some articles discussed depression in some levels like not depression (40.67%), mild depression (17.80%), moderate depression (20.23%), severe depression (17.80%), and extreme depression (3,4%). Regarding the self-acceptance performed in good (50.45%), moderate (35.13), and low (14.42%). Whilst the self-concept item presented in categories positive (76.98%) and negative (23.02%) respectively. Conclusion: Psychological problems of stroke patients were anxiety, depression, self-acceptance, and self-concept. Recommendation: Next study will be expected to be able to explore psychological factors influencing stroke patients.
