Abstract

Background : Staphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli are the only two of the many bacteria that can be found on the soles of the hand. The use of hand sanitizer match as an alternative to hand washing is currently very attractive in the community. The use of hand sanitizer with the chemicals on a continual basis can generate side effects on the skin. Objectives : Make hand sanitizer gel preparation safer used by a community by the use of nature namely extract ethanol ganitri leaves (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb.). Methodology : Hand sanitizer made in three formula by concentration of the gelling agent ( karbopol 940 ) F1 0.2 %, F2 0.5 %, and F3 0,8%, then will be evaluated preparation to find the formula for the best physical. The formula for the best in the diameter of an obstruent power test against bacteria staphylococcus aureus and eschericia coli with the sumuran method. Result : Physical evaluation of the chance to get title in formula 2 by concentration of the the gelling agent ( karbopol 940 ) as much as 0.5 %. The diameter of an obstruent power test shows that a formula 2 have antibacterial activity against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli successive namely 11.4 mm and 15.8 mm. Conclusion : Best formula preparation hand sanitizer gel extract ganitri leaves ( Elaeocarpus ganitrus roxb. ) use karbopol 940 as the gelling agent by concentration of the 0.5 %, as well as having antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli with two categories of strong. Recommendations : Created formulations of one out of hand sanitizer gel by a combination the gelling agent.
