Abstract

Mefenamic acid is one type of OWA (pharmaceutical mandatory) which is widely used as a pain reliever. In the current era, people are more aware of the importance of being responsible for the health of themselves and their families, so that the majority of them take their own medication when they complain of illness. Many underlying factors including the level of knowledge and behavior. which can lead to medication errors. Objective to determine the relationship between consumer characteristics with behavior and knowledge of the use of mefenamic acid at Kutowinagun pharmacy Farma Kebumen. This research method is using a cross sectional approach. Instrument uses a questionnaire with the number of respondents 61 people with purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used chi square statistical test. The results of this study indicate that the distribution of the level of knowledge and behavior of respondents is quite adequate regarding the use of mefenamic acid. The results of the Chi Square test analysis showed that the relationship between respondents' characteristics and knowledge had a significant relationship, namely age (0.004), education (0.003), occupation (0.000) and income (0.000) with p value <0.05. While the unrelated is gender (0.411) with p value > 0.05. The results of the Chi Square test analysis show that the relationship between respondents' characteristics and consumer behavior has a significant relationship, namely education (0.002), and income (0.003) with p value <0.05. While the unrelated are gender (0.525), age (0.176) and occupation (0.097) with p value > 0.05. Conclusion of this study indicate that the characteristics of respondents with knowledge have a significant relationship, namely age, education, occupation, and income, while the relationship between respondents' characteristics and behavior has a significant relationship, namely education and income. Future researchers are expected to be able to use other variables that influence consumer behavior and knowledge about the use of other analgesic drugs.
