Abstract

Background: Self-medication is the use of drugs by a person to overcome the disorders they experience without a doctor's prescription. According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2014 data on self-medication in Central Java was 90.55%. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and behavior of using analgesic drugs, as well as to find out whether sociodemographic factors can affect the level of knowledge and consumer behavior at Apotek Vitara 2. Research Methods: This research is in the form of a survey with a descriptive method with a cross sectional design. The sample studied was 75 respondents and the research data will be analyzed using the SPSS application. Research Results: Knowledge and behavior of respondents are categorized as good (66.7%) and (69.3%). The results of the analysis of sociodemographic factors that affect the level of knowledge are age (0.000), last education (0.021), occupation (0.000), which does not affect gender (0.333), income (0.195), drugs that are often used (0.587). The results of the analysis of sociodemographic factors with influencing behavior are age (0.000), last education (0.001), occupation (0.030), and income (0.025) which have no effect, namely gender (0.111) and frequently used drugs (0.625). Conclusion: Knowledge and behavior of respondents are categorized as good. Sociodemographic factors that affect the level of knowledge are age, last education, and occupation. Meanwhile, those that influence the behavior of respondents are age, last education, occupation and income. Recommendation: Further researchers are expected to examine other factors that can affect the level of knowledge and behavior of using analgesic drugs.
