Abstract

Background, Hypertension is a disease that requires long-term therapy, so it takes patient compliance in undergoing treatment, to control blood pressure and reduce the risk of complications. The prevalence of hypertension at Community Health Center 1 Gombong in 2020 is 1063 patients. Research Objectives, to determine compliance to the use of antihypertensive drugs and the relationship between the characteristics of respondents with adherence to the use of antihypertensive drugs. Research Methods, the research method is an observational analysis crosssectional design. Measurement of adherence using MMAS-8. There were 43 people with total sampling for one month. Data were managed using SPSS-16 and analyzed with a chi-sqaure. Research Results, the results of the adherence analysis known 20,9% not obedient, 60,5% quite obedient and 18,6% obedient. There is no significant correlation with the adherence with the use of antihypertension drugs (p value >0,05), gender (p=0,063), age (p=0,314), education (p=0,449), proffesion (p=0,667), income (p=0,858), long suffered hypertension (p=0,231) and amount of medicine (p=0,375). Conclusion, the patients are quite obedient (60,5%), and there in no correlation between respondent characteristics with the adherence with the use of antihypertension drugs. Recommendations : Further research is needed regarding the factors influencing the compliance of antihypertensive drug use, with qualitative methods, larger samples, the population of patients over 60 years old accompanied by comorbid disease and conducting interviews
