Abstract
Background, mango arum manis leaves (Mangifera indica L. Var. arum manis) is one of the plants that can be used as an antioxidant. Research Purpose, This study aims to get a cream formula that has the best physical properties and know the antioxidant activity of sweet mango arum leaf methanol extract in cream preparations. Methods, The study was conducted using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrilhydrazil) free radical immersion method with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 517 nm. Antioxidant activity tests were conducted at concentrations of 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm and 80 ppm. The principle of the DPPH method with a decrease in absorbance value is proportional to the increase in the concentration of antioxidant compounds expressed in the value of IC50. Result, The results showed that the cream of methanol extract of sweet mango arum leaves with variations of alcohol formulas 1,2 and 3 has good physical properties, but on the stability test formulas 1 and 3 are unstable and only formula 2 is stable. The results of testing with the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrilhydrazil) method in formula 2 with an IC50 value of 28.14 are included in the highly active antioxidant. Conclusion, The setyl of alcohol as a cream base can affect the physical properties of the cream preparation of mango arum manis leaf methanol extract (Mangifera indica L. Var. arum manis) with a test value of One Way ANOVA p < 0.05. Formula 2 is a cream preparation with the best physical properties having very active antioxidant activity. Recommendation, recommendations from this study is that further research is needed using different methods, namely FRAP and FIC and needs to be conducted irritant tests and hedonic tests
