Abstract
Background : Free radicals in the body are known to trigger degenerative diseases, such as cardiovascular, dull and dry skin. Antioxidants are inhibitors that can inhibit free radicals. The ethanol extract of jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus L) leaves based on the results of phytochemical screening contains flavonoid compounds, alkaloids, saponins and tannins. Flavonoid is one of the compounds that can inhibit free radicals and is soluble in water, which can be extracted with 70% ethanol, 96% ethanol. The preparation chosen was lotion because it is an emulsion preparation that is easily washed off with water and is not sticky compared to other topical preparations. Research purpose : To make a handbody lotion using ethanol extract of jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus L) leaves as an antioxidant which is applied to the skin. Methods : This research is an experimental research type. The research tool uses variables manipulated by researchers. Results : The results of the calculation of the IC50 value for vitamin C of 28.1 ppm are included in the very strong category and the handbody lotion preparation of 96% ethanol extract of jackfruit leaves (Artocarpus heterophyllus L) is 34.4 ppm and is included in the very strong antioxidant activity. Conclusion : Formula 1,2,3 fulfilled the physical test of the preparation including organoleptic test, pH test, homogeneity test, dispersibility test, adhesion test and viscosity test. The higher the base used, the thicker the handbody lotion preparation made. Recommendation : The content of flavonoid compounds in jackfruit leaf extract can be formulated into a handbody lotion that can be useful as an antioxidant activity.
