Abstract

Background : Children with disabilities have difficulties in taking care of themselves, adapting to the environment, and having limitations in sensory and motion. Because of these limitations, they have deficit independence to get dress by themselves. Objective : To find out the influence of dressing self-modelling video toward the disabled children’ independence to get dress in the Budi Asih Special School Kebumen. Methods : The study used pre-experimental study with one group pre and post test without control group design meaning that only one group of the same subject that was used before and after the experimental treatment. The data were analyzed by using paired t test. The samples consisted of 20 respondents taken by using purposive sampling technique (non-probability sampling). Result : Dressing self-modeling video influenced the children’ independence to get dress with t-count value 7.28. The t-table based on df = 19 with a 5% level of significance value of 2.09 and 0.000. Therefore t-count > ttable (7.28> 2.09) and the significant value is smaller than the significance level of 5% (p = 0.000 <0.05). Conclusion : Dressing self-modelling video as an intervention technique to change disabled children’s behaviour is valuable and is one of the ways to help them to be more independent.
