Abstract

Background: Pregnant mothers in their third trimester often have back pain. This can be a factor that causes discomfort in the third trimester. Back pain is a pain that occurs in the waist. Back pain will increase during pregnancy; this pain occurs due to changes in the center of gravity and changes in posture (Yuspina et al, 2018). One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be used to reduce back pain is Ice Massage and Slow Stroke Back Massage (SSBM). Objective: To know the effect of Ice Massage and Slow Stroke Back Massage (SSBM) in reducing back pain of pregnant mothers in third trimester pregnancy. Method: This scientific paper is a descriptive case study. The data was obtained from observations and literary studies. The participants were 3 pregnant mothers who met inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instruments used were informed consent, SOP sheet, VDS observation sheet. Result: After four weeks application of Ice Massage and Slow Stroke Back Massage, there was a decrease of back pain on pregnant mothers in their 3rd trimester pregnancy. Conclusion: Ice Massage and Slow Stroke Back Massage can be effective to reduce back pain of pregnant mothers in their 3rd trimester pregnancy.
