Abstract

infection of the gastric mucosa and submucosa. To overcome that health problem, warm compress therapy can be applied. This therapy provides warm for certain parts of body, especially the stomach. It is conducted by using a bag filled with warm water that will warm up the area of the body with a temperature of 45°-50°. This is to reduce pain, to soften fibrous tissue, to relax muscles, and to provide calm. Objective: To describe nursing care for gastritis patients by applying warm water therapy for reducing pain. Method: The case study is descriptive that the data collection techniques was conducted by having interviews, observations, and documentation. Respondents were 3 patients who suffered from gastritis. The instruments were in the form of nursing care formats, SOPs, and observation sheets. Result: Based on the evaluation results after being given warm compress therapy for 3 consecutively, there was a decrease in pain level of all patients – from medium became light pain. Recommendation: Warm water therapy can be applied to reduce pain of gastritis sufferers for other stroke patients.
