Abstract

Background : Hypertension is a condition where the diastolic blood pressure reaches 90 mmHg or more, and there are no other causes other than hypertension. Music that is a combination of rhythm, rhythm, harmony, and melody was previously thought to have an impact against treating patients. Instrumental music is music that sings without vocals and only instruments or musical instruments and back vocals sing. Music therapy is a very high skill easy to make, affordable and with few side effects compared to medication. Objective : Describes nursing care with the application of instrumental music therapy to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Methodes : This study uses a descriptive method with a case study approach of interviews, observation, physical examination, and documentation studies. Results : After performing instrumental music therapy on the three patients for 3 days, 23 respondents (76.7%). Therefore, the researchers conducted music therapy and the results obtained after classical therapy of blood pressure in the elderly at the elderly posyandu in Waleng Village were mostly in the category of high normal hypertension (< 140 mmHg) as many as 20 respondents (66.7%). Recommendation : Instrumental music therapy to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients
