Abstract

Background: Intra Uterine Device (IUD) contraceptive can trigger vaginal discharge due to the presence of foreign objects in the uterus. Besides, the lack of knowledge of IUD acceptors may also cause vaginal discharge. To improve their knowledge about vaginal discharge, health education using leaflet media can be conducted. This media is flexible, attractive, and it is easy for society to understand. Objective: To find out the health education using leaflet media to improve knowledge of IUD acceptors about vaginal discharge. Method: This paper is a qualitative descriptive with a case-study approach. Data were obtained from interview, observation, and literary study. The participants were 5 IUD acceptors who met the inclusion criteria. The instruments used were leaflets and questionnaire sheets. Result: After having health education using leaflet media, there was an improvement of knowledge of IUD acceptors about vaginal discharge: from 40% to 80% (participant 1), from 47% to 93% (participant 2), from 60% to 87% (participant 3), from 67% to 93% (participant 4), and from 53% to 73% (participant 5). Conclusion: Health education using leaflet media can help IUD acceptor to improve their knowledge about vaginal discharge
