Abstract
Background: Indonesia is a developing country with a population problem. The government tries to decrease the increasing population by making family planning program (birth control). Lack of knowledge about the long-term contraceptive methods especially implant and declining interest in contraception are the causes why acceptors do not use long-term contraception. And the acceptors are directed to use implant contraceptives with a paperback book in their counseling. Objective: Conducting counseling about a long-term implant contraceptive to Mrs. R, a 38 year-old mother with P5Ah5 by using pocket-book media in private midwifery clinic of Midwife Teguh Rahayuningsih at Karangsari, Buayan, Kebumen. Method: This scientific paper is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The study was conducted by describing or depicting phenomena that occur in society. The data was analyzed in the form of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. Results: After being given counseling about implant contraceptive, Mrs. R could understand more about implant contraceptive, and finally she decided to use implant contraceptive. Conclusion: The counseling using pocket book media can influence Mrs. R. longterm contraceptive. Besides, discussions with partner (husband) can also influence her making decision. After having counseling and having a discussion with her husband, Mrs. R decided to use implant contraceptive.
