Abstract

Background: In reality there are only 15-30% of adolescents (girl teenagers) does breast selfexamination (BSE). Therefore a BSE movement is in need which is accompanied by the concept of breast awareness through health education using leaflet. This is because leaflet is more flexible and easier for women in their various ages to understand. Objective: This study was to determine the effectiveness of health education using leaflet to improve the knowledge level of adolescents. Method: This paper is an analytical descriptive with a case-study approach. Data was obtained from pretest and posttest. The respondents were 5 girl-teeangers. Result: After having health education about BSE using leaflet, there was an increase in knowledge level of all respondents about BSE: from 0% - 90% (participant 1 and 2), from 0% - 87% (participant 3, 4, and 5). In conclusion, it shows that all respondents are in good category related to health education about BSE using leaflet. Conclusion: The application of health education using leaflet is effective to improve the knowledge of adolescents about BSE.
