Abstract

Background : The increasing number of adolescents every year causes an increase in the need for health services and social services for adolescents. Adolescents often lack information about reproductive health that is affordable and guaranteed confidentiality. In this case parents play an important role, especially mothers because of gender equality and have the same experience Objective: Knowing the relationship between parental support and perineal hygiene behavior when menstruating in seventh grade adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Kroya Method: This research is a quantitative research with a correlational research design with a cross sectional approach. sampling using purposive sampling technique so that the obtained sample amounted to 104 respondents. data collection using a parental support questionnaire and perineal hygiene behavior. data analysis using spearman rho test with a result of 0.000. Results: The results showed that the average parental support was 49.56 while perineal hygiene behavior had an average of 27.17. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between parental support and perineal hygiene behavior during menstruation in early seventh grade adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Kroya. Recommendation: It is expected that the family, teachers will continue to monitor their students so that they continue to provide and maintain information to young women regarding adolescent hygiene behavior when menstruating
