Abstract

Background : A common problem when families wait for patients in critical condition is anxiety. In Indonesia 150 milion adults (about 11,6% and 17,4 milion people) experience mood disorders or mental health disorders in the forms of anxiety and depression, while in the healing process, the family support system is needed an if not fulfilled it has a profound effect on the healing process and spiritual recovery. In this case, the spiritual aspect can encourage one to make greater, stronger, and targeted efforts in the face of emotional stress, pain, even death, so as to obtain a quality of line related to health. Purpose: To find out the relationship of spiritual level with the level of family anxiety of patients in intensive care unit (ICU) PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods : This study uses a correlative quantitative method with a cross section approach with the chi- square test. The sample was taken based on the inclusion criteria of 36 respondents. This study has been conducted ethical tests for one month and validity test obtained the results of 14 valid questionnaires and 2 questionnaire. Results : It shows a significant association between spiritual levels and the patient’s family anxiety level in intensive care with a value (p< 0.035). Conclusion : There is meaningful relationship between the spiritual level and the patient’s family anxiety level in the intensive care room. Recommendation : Able to improve the fulfilment of the family’s spiritual needs, so that the family can more easily overcome anxiety with a spiritual approach so as to be able to carry out the functions and roles of a family that has responsibility for patients.
