Abstract

Background: Personal hygiene independence is maintained good hygiene physically and psychologically. An influencing factor of personal hygiene independence is parenting. Objective: To identify the relationship of parenting to personal hygiene independent of pre-school. Method: This study was descriptive correlational research with a cross-sectional approach. A number of sixty-five were joined in this study. The instruments study used parenting and personal hygiene independent levels questionnaires. Result: The respondents practiced various parenting styles. Forty-four respondents practiced democratic parenting (67.7%), fourteen respondents practiced authoritative parenting (21.5%), seven respondents practiced permissive parenting. Whereas personal hygiene independent levels were found, fifty children were in independent level, and fifteen children in moderate levels (23.1%). Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test (p-value = 0.003) means an association between both variables. Conclusion: There was a relationship between parenting to personal hygiene independent of pre-school Recommendation: Further research hope can take gender or others variables that have an impact on personal hygiene independent of children.
