Abstract

Background: This research was motivated by the existence of emergency patients who stated that they had received treatment for a long time and were left waiting in uncomfortable conditions due to pain and fatigue, causing increased anxiety while in the emergency room. Most patients do not know about triage problems in the ER so patients sometimes think that the treatment is not fast enough to cause anxiety about their health. Objective: to explain the relationship between response time and the level of patient anxiety in the Emergency Room (IGD) PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: The research method is descriptive with a correlational approach. The population taken in this study were 17968 patients in the ER PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital in 2020. The research sample was 100 patients who were taken by simple random sampling. The tools in this study were questionnaires and observation sheets. Data were analyzed descriptively and correlatively Result : Patients with fast response time category (63.0%). Patients with moderate level of anxiety (56.0%). There is a relationship between response time and anxiety level of patients in the Emergency Room (IGD) PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital (p=0.001). . Conclusion: The faster the response time, the lighter the patient's anxiety level. Recommendation: further researchers can examine other factors that affect patient anxiety in the Emergency Room (IGD).
