Abstract

Background: Nursing documentation is written evidence from nurses for nursing care services that have been given to clients. Good and correct nursing documentation can make it easier for nurses and other health workers to provide quality nursing care to clients. Documentation of nursing care is significantly related to workload and knowledge. Objective: To describe a literature review on factors related to the completeness of nursing documentation for nurses in the Emergency Room. Methods: This study is a literature review on factors related to the completeness of nursing documentation for nurses in the Emergency Room. The sources used in this study are the electronic databases of Google Scholar, Pubmed and Pro Quest. The keywords used in this research are knowledge, nurse workload, leadership supervision. In this study, the articles used are articles in the range of 2018 to 2020. Results: The results of the literature review show that there are still nurses who do less than optimal nursing care documentation with an average of 54% incomplete documentation. There are several trigger factors that cause incomplete documentation of nursing care including workload and knowledge. Efforts can be made to improve the quality of nursing care documentation by increasing supervision from the leadership.
