Abstract

Background: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is part of an independent hospital equipped with staff and equipment specifically intended for observation, treatment and patients with acute life-threatening or life-threatening injuries or complications. Workload is all activities or work of nurses while on duty in nursing services. Factors that affect the workload include the number of patients treated in each unit, the level of patient dependence, the average number of days of treatment, the type of action requested by the client, and the average time required to provide care. Objective: The general objective of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between workload and stress levels of nurses in the intensive care room. Methods: This study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive type. . The sample in this study amounted to 43 respondents with a total sampling technique of sampling. The research instrument used a workload questionnaire and a stress management questionnaire. Results: From 43 respondents after being tested statistically the significance value of Spearman's rho p = 0.008 where the value is less than 0.05 so that the work hypothesis is accepted, which means that there is a relationship between workload and nurses' stress levels. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between workload and work stress on nurses. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to be able to examine the workload and stress levels of nurses in other treatment rooms and can increase the number of samples.
