Abstract

Background: Patients with severe head injuries can experience impaired hemodynamic status such as increased intracranial pressure. Therefore, monitoring the management of intracranial pressure is very necessary to prevent poor outcomes and even death in patients with severe head injuries Objective: This study aims to find out about monitoring intracranial pressure in patients with severe head injuries at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Research method: The method used retrospective descriptive. Samples were taken with a total sampling technique of 18 people. Data analysis used univariate analysis with the presentation of the frequency distribution. The instrument used was an observation sheet to identify outcome values including increased intracranial pressure, vital signs (systolic and diastolic blood pressure, pulse, and temperature), Glasgow Coma Scale and Oxygen Saturation. The results: Outcome value of intracranial pressure in patients with severe head injury increased by 100%, Vital Signs (systolic blood pressure 55.6% normal, diastolic blood pressure 88.9% normal, pulse 44.4% normal and very bad, then temperature was 94.4% normal), Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) was mostly poor (50%) and Oxygen Saturation was normal (72.2%) Conclusion: Monitoring of intracranial pressure in patients with severe head injury is increasing Recommendation: Emergency room nurses are expected to make close observations of increased intracranial pressure and seek treatment so that the values are in the normal range (3-15 mmHg)
