Abstract
Background: Typhoid fever is an acute infection caused by Salmonella enteritidis (Salmonella typhi). The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that there are 21 million cases of typhoid fever worldwide, with 128,000 to 161,000 deaths each year, mainly in South and Southeast Asia. In Indonesia, the number of cases in 2010 was 41,801 cases, with a mortality rate of 0.67% and in 2011 there were 55,098 cases with a mortality rate of 2.06%. At the same time, in accordance with the Early Alert and Response System (SKDR) of the Ministry of Health for Disease Prevention and Control (P2PL), the Ministry of Health places Central Java as the third typhoid fever case for three consecutive years. Children with typhoid fever will experience acute pain caused by an inflammatory process that causes pain in the abdomen. One way to deal with acute pain is with Guided Imagination Distraction Relaxation. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of relaxation therapy to distract the imagination of pain in children with typhoid fever in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Method: Using descriptive with case study approach. Case study on 5 patients with cases of Typhoid Fever in children in the Inayah Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Results of nursing care: Nursing care was carried out on 5 pediatric patients, with an age range of 9-12 years, for 3 days. Data collection using interview techniques, directly measuring vital signs and secondary data from medical records. The results of the study were obtained from 5 pediatric patients, almost all (80%) experienced a pain scale of 6 and a small portion (20%) with a pain scale of 7, the intervention was determined by the TTV monitor, set a comfortable position, created a calm environment, gave pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain measures. pharmacology, and teach the technique of Guided Imagination Distraction Relaxation. The results of the evaluation were obtained from 5 pediatric patients, all of them (100%) on a pain scale of 3 with a mild pain scale. Recommendation: The results of this study can be a source for further researchers and serve as a reference for non-pharmacological therapy in children with typhoid fever with acute pain problems.
