Abstract

Background: Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH) is a disease caused by an enlarged prostate that compresses the urinary bladder and often causes disturbances in urinary elimination that occurs in elderly men. Surgery is performed to BPH patients, namely TURP which can cause anxiety nursing problem in preoperative patients. Independent nursing treatment that can be carried out by nurses are applying combination between finger grip relaxation and murottal al-qur'an therapy. Objective: To find out the results of application of combination between finger grip relaxation and murottal al-qur'an therapy of preoperative BPH TURP patients with anxiety nursing problem. Methods: This final scientific paper used descriptive method with case study approach. Data were obtained from interviews, and using the HARS (Hamilton Rating Scale For Anxiety) questionnaire to measure anxiety level. The selected subjects consisted of 5 preoperative BPH TURP patients who had anxiety nursing problem. Result: The main nursing problem was anxiety. Nursing interventions were relaxation therapy using combination of finger grip relaxation and murottal alqur'an therapy. After the five patients underwent intervention, they experienced change of the anxiety level from moderate to mild anxiety. Recommendation: It is recommended that nurses at the hospital can use combination of finger grip relaxation and murottal al-qur'an therapy in nonpharmacological management to reduce anxiety of preoperative BPH TURP patients
