Abstract

Background: Low Birth Weight (LBW) can be treated at home if the baby's health condition is stable. Mothers need enough knowledge to manage their babies, and they are ready for their baby's needs. Objective: To provide nursing care for mothers who have LBW babies. Method: This was a descriptive case study with a cross-sectional approach. The study subjects were five mothers who had LBW babies and did not have enough knowledge about caring for LBW babies. The tools in this study were: The nursing care format; the nursing kit; a structured questionnaire. Data study collected by medical record and nursing care documentation Results: All respondents did not know how to care for LBW babies, and they had never received information about caring for them. Priority nursing diagnosis was knowledge deficit related to ho take care of LBW babies. After getting health education, all respondents got increasing of knowledge taking care of LBW babies. Recommendation: This results study can be used as a reference for increasing mothers who do not know if they have low birth weight babies.
