Abstract
Background, Chronic renal failure / CKD is a dysfunction of the kidneys to maintain metabolism and electrolytes caused by damage to the kidneys so that hemodialysis therapy can be carried out aimed at removing waste from the body. Anxiety can occur in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis initiation which can be reduced by Benson relaxation. The purpose of the study was to determine the description of nursing care with Benson relaxation therapy in CKD patients with anxiety before hemodialysis. Method this type of research is descriptive using a case study approach. The subjects in this case study were 5 patients with CKD who underwent hemodialysis initiation with anxiety in the Aster room using the HARS scale instrument. The type of application of nursing actions carried out is Benson relaxation therapy with a time of 1 hour with a frequency of 1 action. The results showed that with Benson relaxation therapy for 1 day there was a decrease in anxiety scores, 1 patient experienced a decrease in anxiety levels from severe to moderate anxiety, 1 patient experienced a decrease in anxiety levels from severe anxiety to mild levels and 3 patients from anxiety moderate to light levels. Benson's recommendations for relaxation measures are carried out in CKD patients with anxiety who undergo hemodialysis initiation.
