Abstract
Background: Postpartum mother may suffer from anemia. Anemia is a condition in which the level of hemoglobin (Hb) in the blood is less than the normal limit – <11 grams / dL. In the first week of post-delivery, the body's cells do not get enough oxygen supply and their function becomes abnormal. To overcome anemia of postpartum mothers, they can consume extract of green bean and date to increase Hb levels. Objective: To know the effect of green bean and date extract in the effort of increasing hemoglobin levels of postpartum mothers. Method: This research is an analytical descriptive with a case-study approach. The participants were 4 postpartum mothers who met the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. The instruments used were observation sheets, Hb level examination tools (digital haemometer or easy touch blood hemoglobin), stepped on scales, microtoa to measure height. Data were obtained from interview, observation and documentation. Result: After having extract of green bean and date, there was an increase in hb levels of all participants: from the category of mild anemia (Hb levels 9-10 g / dL) increased to the normal category (11 g / dL). Conclusion: Extract of green bean and date can increase Hb levels of postpartum mothers.
