Abstract
Background: Chronic kidney failure (CKD) is a global public health problem, its prevalence and incidence is increasing, the prognosis is poor and the costs are high. CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment feel anxious due to situational crises and death threats, and do not know the final results of treatment. Nursing interventions that can be done are by providing generalist therapy with lavender aromatherapy which aims to help control anxiety. Objective: To explain the effectiveness of the combination of generalist therapy with lavender aromatherapy in reducing anxiety in hemodialysis patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Gombong. Methods: This research uses a descriptive case study method. The subjects of this study were 5 CKD patients who underwent HD according to the criteria. The instruments used were observation sheets, anxiety scale measuring sheets (HADS scale), generalist therapy SOPs and lavender aromatherapy, and psychosocial mental nursing care formats. The intervention is given for 15-30 minutes. Result: After the action of giving generalist therapy with lavender aromatherapy for 4 meetings, it was found that there was a significant decrease in anxiety levels in patient 2 from 14 to 8. As well as a significant increase in ability in patients 1 and 5 as evidenced by an increase in score from 10 to be 21. Conclusion: There is an effect of generalist therapy with lavender aromatherapy on the level of anxiety in patients with chronic kidney failure (CKD) in the Barokah room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Recommendation: Giving generalist therapy with lavender aromatherapy can be more applied to chronic kidney failure (CKD) patients who experience anxiety. Future researchers are expected to be able to apply generalist therapy with lavender aromatherapy to patients other than CKD who experience anxiety.
