Abstract
Background: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways that involves many cells and their elements with three classic symptoms of asthma, namely wheezing, coughing, and abnormal breath sensations or dyspnea. One of the non-pharmacological actions that can be taken in asthma patients is maintaining fitness such as physical activity and breathing exercise. Diaphragmatic breathing exercises are the main breathing exercise therapy for asthmatic patients. Objective: To provide nursing care for diaphragmatic breathing therapy in asthmatic patients with ineffective airway clearance at RSUD dr. Sudirman Kebumen Methods: The research method is descriptive with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 patients. The tools in this study were the nursing care format, Nursing Kit, SOP for diaphragmatic breathing, and the format for assessing signs and symptoms of ineffective airway clearance. Presentation of data that the author does by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which is presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume Results: The results of the study showed that the five patients had the same chief complaint of shortness of breath. Priority nursing diagnosis in Patients I-V is ineffective airway clearance related to retained secretions. The nursing interventions carried out were effective coughing exercises and breathing exercises. The nursing implementation carried out are effective coughing exercises and breathing exercises. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in effective cough, decreased sputum production, decreased wheezing and improved respiratory rate Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for the preparation of SOPs for handling ineffective airway clearance related to retained secretions using the diaphragmatic breathing therapy method.
