Abstract
Background, According to the World Health Organization WHO (2013), the number of operations in hospitals in the world has increased significantly from year to year, namely in 2011 as many as 140 million patients and in 2012 to 148 million patients who underwent surgery, (Rahmayati, Silaban, & Fatonah, 2018). The tabulation results from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2009 ranked 11th out of the 50 highest diseases in Indonesia with a total of 12.8%, laparotomy surgery was estimated at 32% of all surgical procedures (Kusumayanti, 2015). Objective, The general goal of applying nursing care to Post Laparotomy Surgery clients with the intervention of giving 5 fingers hypnotic therapy to reduce pain scale in the Bougenville Room of Dr Tjitrowardojo Hospital Purworejo in 2021. Method, This research method was carried out with nursing care for 5 patients for 3 days with a duration of 15 minutes in a row with the intervention of giving 5 fingers hypnotic therapy to clients with post-laparotomy pain. Results, The results of a decrease in the chest pain scale in 5 patients from a pain scale of 5-6 until the patient moved to the heart room with a pain scale of 2-3 after nursing actions in the form of 5-finger hypnosis therapy. Recommendations, For the effect of 5 fingers hypnosis therapy to reduce the scale of chest pain in clients with post laparotomy surgery, can be seen from the evaluation that has been done which shows a significant change in 5 patients to decrease the pain scale. It is hoped that the hospital, especially the Bougenville room and the operating room, can provide information and knowledge about the effect of 5 fingers hypnosis to reduce the scale of chest pain that can be done in the hospital or at home.
