Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a condition in which blood sugar increases due to chronic disorders or disturbances in the metabolic processes of lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins. This is due to disturbances in insulin function so that insulin production decreases due to pancreatic disorders and beta cells that are too sensitive to insulin. The prevalence of DM sufferers in 2013 was 1.1% and in 2018 increased to 2.1% General purpose: to provide a description of the results of nursing care in the stage of family development in the elderly in Pekuncen Village, Sempor District, who have problems with ineffective health care. Method: descriptive method. a method that describes the current situation based on the problems obtained by the client so as to produce a well-organized and complete picture Results of nursing care: From the five patients the average blood sugar before dragon fruit juice therapy was 274.2 mg/dL, and after being given dragon fruit juice it was 228.2 mg/dL. Average decrease in blood sugar by 46 mg/dL. Recommendation: can conduct more in-depth research on the analysis of nursing care for elderly families with diabetes mellitus problems and the most influential factors with the incidence of diabetes mellitus that occurs in the family.
