Abstract
Background:ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction occurs due to occlusion of one or more coronary arteries, causing transmural myocardial ischemia, resulting in myocardial injury or necrosis. It makes a pain sensation in the chest part. Benson’s relaxation therapy combined with foot massage is non-pharmacology therapy given as nursing care management to decrease pain sensation. Purpose: Giving nursing care to patients with acute pain of STEMI patients. Method:This study is a descriptive case study. Five adult patients were given pain management as nursing care to decrease pain sensation. Pharmacology therapy was given to patients, and Nurses applied Benson’s relaxation therapy combined with foot massage as non-pharmacology therapy. Result:The primary nursing diagnosis of patients was acute pain. All patients got nursing care during three days in ICCU of RSUD Prof. dr. MargonoSoekarjoPurwokerto found that Benson’s relaxation therapy combined with foot massage could reduce pain sensation in STEMI patients. Recommendation: Benson’s relaxation therapy combined with foot massage can be applied to reduce pain sensation in acute pain.
