Abstract

Background, Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways. Asthma attacks that occur can cause airway obstruction in the form of phlegm/sputum which is a problem in airway clearance. The main interventions for ineffective airway clearance include airway management, effective coughing exercises and respiratory monitoring. Research Objective, Knowing the analysis of ineffective airway clearance nursing care for patients with asthma attacks in the emergency room at Dr Sudirman Hospital, Kebumen Research Method, The method used in this research is descriptive research design with a case study approach. the independent variable is effective cough with the dependent variable is airway clearance. Research Result, There is an effect of effective cough on the problem of airway clearance as evidenced by a decrease in the patient's respiratory frequency and additional breath sounds (wheezing, rhonchi) are reduced Conclusion, Cough effectively affects the problem of airway clearance Recommendation, Effective coughing action can be used as an independent nursing action to overcome the problem of airway clearance.
