Abstract
Background Hypertension is increased blood pressure more than 140 mmHg in systolic and 90 mmHg in diastolic. An individual with has a blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg can be at risk for stroke, heart attack, and chronic kidney failure. Hypertension can be treated by pharmacological therapy. To support pharmacological therapy, the nurse can apply non-pharmacological methods like deep breathing relaxation techniques. It can reduce oxygen consumption, metabolism, respiration rate, heart rate, muscle tone, and blood pressure. Objective: Giving nursing care to patients with hypertension and practice deep breath relaxation therapy. Method: This study was a descriptive case study with the cross-sectional approach. The nurse gave deep breathing relaxation, and five respondents joined in this study. Result: All respondents got pharmacological therapy from the physician. The deep breath relaxation technique was conducted three times a day, and it took 10-15 minutes for each action. The nurse observed respondents' blood pressure before and after the procedure. The respondents experienced a decrease in blood pressure, with an average of their blood pressure after the intervention was 152/87 mmHg. Recommendations: These results can be applied to hypertensive patients to reduce blood pressure by non-pharmacological technique.
