Abstract

Background: Caesarean section is the expulsion of the fetus by making an incision in the uterine wall through the front wall of the abdomen. The labor process sometimes fails to function normally, and the fetus cannot be delivered normally. Caesarean section (SC) is the first choice for medical personnel to save the mother and fetus. Sectio caesarea surgery causes pain in the area of the suture wound in the abdomen. Efforts to relieve pain after cesarean section are using non-pharmacological therapies such as foot massage therapy. Objective: To explain nursing care of post sectio caesarea patients with acute pain given foot massage therapy to reduce pain in Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo hospital of Purwokerto. Methods: This nursing care is a case study with 5 patients with the same case, namely post sectio Caesarea who have pait problems. Assessment of pain level using a numeric rating scale (NRS) was carried out before giving foot massage therapy. Results: The results of the assessment carried out on the five patients found the main nursing problem of acute pain. After the foot massage astion, the result of the analysis of nursing action innovations (before-after) in the five patients managed with nonpharmacological foot massage therapy on post SC mother showed that the five patients experienced a decrease in pain scale. Recommendation: Foot massage therapy is recommended to reduce pain in postoperative cesarean mothers.
