Abstract

Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) (2020), describes that laparotomy patients in the world are increasing every year by 10%. The main problem that arises in post-surgery patients is pain caused by incisions from parts of their bodies. Pain that is not immediately handled properly can cause several complications such as delays in the healing process, the emergence of anxiety, stress and even death. One of the relaxation therapies that can be applied to reduce pain is autogenic relaxation. Objective: To analyze nursing care on acute pain nursing problems in postlaparotomy patients through the application of autogenic relaxation in the ICU of PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Methods: This scientific paper uses a descriptive case study design. The subjects of the case study were 5 post-op laparotomy patients, who experienced acute pain problems. Collecting data by using observation, interview and documentation study techniques. Results: From the five patients after doing finger grip relaxation, the patient's pain level decreased from moderate-severe pain to mild pain. Conclusion: Autogenic relaxation technique is effective in reducing the pain level of post-laparotomy patients.
