Abstract

Background: The incidence of LBW is a serious problem, because it affects the high morbidity and mortality rate of children under five. LBW is at risk of experiencing vital function disorders that end in a decrease in barriers to child growth and development resulting in death. Recommended handling of LBW is using the nesting method. Objective: To analyze nursing care of low birth weight (LBW) infant on nesting to fulfill comfort basic need. Methods: This research used a descriptive case study method. The subjects were 5 LBW infants according to the criteria given nesting. Measured variables were body temperature, respiration and pulse frequency. Results: Nursing Diagnosis was ineffective breathing pattern related to neurological immaturity. Intervention: SLKI Breathing Pattern, Use of accessory muscles to breathe, chest wall retraction, respiratory rate. SIKI Airway Management, Monitor breathing patterns (frequency, depth, effort of breath), Monitor additional breath sounds (eg, gurgling, wheezing, wheezing, dry rhonchi), Maintain a patent airway. , by placing the baby in an oval-shaped swaddle roll in a flexed position and the duration of administration is 2 hours. The evaluation of the five patients managed showed changes in body temperature, frequency and respiratory frequency in LBW after being given nesting, the average range of physiological parameters for temperature before procedure was 36.1ºC after procedure was 36.56ºC, for pulse before procedure was 147.6 53.4 bpm after procedure was 153 bpm and for respiration before treatment 48 tpm and after was 53.4 tpm. Conclusion: This study found the effect of nesting on the body's physiological parameters (body temperature, pulse frequency and breathing frequency) in LBW infants.
