Abstract

Background : Stroke can cause muscle weakness or stiffness down one side of the body . Effects of a stroke may make balancing and regaining mobility difficult and related to neuromuscular disorders . It is impacted to patient activity daily living Purpose : Describe nursing care proses of stroke patients with impaired physical mobility . Method : This study was a descriptive case study . Five stroke patients who have impaired physical mobility problems were recruited as respondents in this study . All respondents got pharmacology and non - pharmacology therapy . The nurse provided lateral prehension grip practice for all respondents to improve their physical mobility of respondents . Every time respondents conducted lateral prehension grip practice for 10-15 minutes , and they practiced three times a day throughout three days . A change in physical mobility was evaluated by the nurse using the grading of muscle strength . Result : After the nurse gave nursing intervention to all respondents based on Standar Luaran Keperawatan Indonesia ( SLKI ) and supported by Standar Intervensi Keperawatan Indonesia ( SIKI ) . Five respondents experienced improvement , although not too much a change on their hold finger between 2-7 degrees every day . Recommendation : Lateral prehension grip practice can be given to stroke patients as non - pharmacology therapy , significantly improving patient's holdfingers .
