Abstract

Hospital Background : Hypertension is a disease associated with an increase in systolic or diastolic pressure or pressure from both. Hypertension can be defined as persistent high blood pressure whose systolic pressure is above 140 mmHg while diastolic pressure is above 90 mmHg. In the elderly population, hypertension is defined as a systolic pressure of 160 mmHg and a diastolic pressure of 90 mmHg. Patients with hypertension will experience pain in the back of the head to the nape of the neck, this occurs due to increased blood pressure on the walls of the blood vessels in the neck area so that blood flow becomes not smooth, and the end result of metabolism in the neck area due to lack of O2 and buried nutrients, causing inflammation of the area of attachment of muscles and bones that causes acute pain. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be given is rose aromatherapy. By inhaling aromatherapy alpha waves in the brain will increase so as to create a relaxed feeling in the body, then vasoconstriction activity in blood vessels decreases and facilitates blood flow so as to create a sense of comfort. General Objective: To analyze nursing care by providing rose aromatherapy therapy to hypertensive patients. Nursing Care Outcomes: The results of the application to the five hypertensive patients all experienced acute pain nursing problems and several interventions were carried out independently and collaboratively. One of the independent interventions given was rose aromatherapy, after being given rose aromatherapy the five patients experienced a significant decrease in pain scale. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to be able to examine the use of rose aromatherapy in other nursing problems. Key Words : Acute Pain, Rose Aromatherapy
