Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition of increased blood pressure experienced by a person. Where the blood pressure exceeds the normal limit with a systolic of 140 mmHg and a diastolic of 90 mmHg. In general, hypertension management is divided into two, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological management, non-pharmacological management can use slow deep breathing relaxation therapy to reduce pain intensity. Objective: Describing analizing of nursing care for hypertensive patients with acute pain in the emergency room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: This scientific work used a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study instrument uses the nursing care format, slow deep breathing SOP, and pain assessment observation sheets. Data were obtained from interviews, physical examinations, and documentation studied. Subjects consisted of 5 adult patients with hypertension with acute pain nursing problems. Nursing Care Results: The results of the assessment conducted on hypertensive patients obtained data on the main complaint, namely acute pain in the head. Priority nursing diagnosis in hypertensive patients is acute pain associated with biologic injury agents as evidenced by the patient complaining of pain. Nursing interventions carried out, namely pain management with slow deep breathing. Implementation of nursing carried out for 6 hours, namely, pain management: Assessing pain comprehensively including (location, characteristics, duration, frequency), Monitor vital signs, Monitor pain levels, Teach nonpharmacological techniques to reduce pain (slow deep breathing), Collaborative administration of analgesics. Recommendation: It is hoped that Slow Deep Breathing can be used as a SOP for nonpharmacological management of hypertension pain.
