Abstract

Background: Patients with CHF who experience shortness of breath require appropriate and accurate treatment both pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically. Deep Breathing Exercise is an exercise to improve breathing and functional performance. Objective: to explain nursing care for the application of deep breathing exercise for patients with congestive heart failure with decreased cardiac output in the ICU of PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Method: descriptive with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 patients with congestive heart failure with decreased cardiac output. The tool in this research is the nursing care format. The measuring instrument that will be used is the observation sheet for decreased cardiac output. Descriptive presentation of data in the form of narratives or tables. Results: The five patients with the chief complaint of shortness of breath. The priority nursing diagnosis is Decreased cardiac output. Nursing interventions and implementations carried out are heart care and Deep Breathing Exercise. The results of the nursing evaluation showed a decrease in signs of decreased cardiac output after the Deep Breathing Exercise was performed. Deep Breathing Exercise is effective in reducing signs and symptoms Decreased cardiac output in patients with congestive heart failure Recommendation: The results of the study can be used as a reference for the preparation of SOPs for the management of decreased cardiac output in patients with congestive heart failure with decreased cardiac output
