Abstract

Background: Asthma is characterized by a wide variety of short-term obstruction of airflow in the pulmonary airways, which manifests as recurrent attacks of coughing or wheezing and shortness of breath, usually occurring at night. These symptoms occur because of widespread, variable and often reversible airway obstruction with or without treatment. Asthma causes patients who suffer from problems with ineffective airway clearance and interfere with the body's oxygenation system. Various kinds of therapy can be done to deal with these problems, one of which is the use of the Buteyko breathing exercise technique and balloon blowing, where the breathing technique has the function of relaxing the respiratory muscles of the intracostal muscles, elevating the diaphragm, costal muscles, and reducing hyperventilation. Objective: To explain nursing care for asthmatic patients with nursing problems ineffective airway clearance with buteyko breathing exercises and balloon blowing interventions in the Multazam Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Research Methods: This research method uses a case study design to explore the problem of nursing care for clients who have asthma with nursing problems of ineffective airway clearance with the intervention of giving Buteyko breathing exercise techniques and Ballon blowing at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Conclusion: Analysis of nursing care in asthmatic patients with ineffective airway clearance problems using the Buteyko breathing exercise technique and balloon blowing at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong has a significant effect. Results: the results of the application carried out to five patients, all of whom experienced problems of ineffective airway clearance and several interventions were carried out, both independent nursing actions and collaborative actions with health and medical personnel, and one of the applications made to overcome these problems was by using the Buteyko breathing exercise technique and balloon blowing where after the application the five patients experienced changes, which were characterized by reduced whezzing sounds and decreased respiratory rate, became normal again and asthma could be controlled. Recommendation: for further research, it is expected to examine the use of red ginger aromatherapy in other respiratory problems.
